SugarCRM costs start at $52 per user per month and can be as high as $1,000 per month, though the most popular plans come in at $80 per user per month.

The Cupertino-based SugarCRM has offered an elegent, easy-to-understand system since its launch in 2004. Each of its three pricing tiers offers an impressive array of features, reasonable storage options, and high-quality support.

Remember, paying for CRM software isn’t one-size-fits-all. CRM pricing can vary depending on the size and needs of your business. The best thing you can do is compare personalized quotes for your own business – you can do so using our handy CRM Quotes Tool in just a few moments.

SugarCRM’s service is used by a customer base of more than 2 million individual users across over 120 countries and 26 languages (although it supports a whopping 36 languages). In other words, it’s a fairly popular service.

Not sure about SugarCRM? Check out some of these top SugarCRM alternatives, below. Or, scroll on to learn more about SugarCRM’s pricing plans.

SugarCRM keeps things simple. It offers one main CRM service that’s designed to satisfy all the cores aspects of running a business, from sales to customer service to marketing to IT. Their software is sold in three different plans, each of which offers more features, storage space and tech support than the last.

Here’s a quick rundown on the three available plan tiers.

As you might be able to guess based on the pricing, the Enterprise tier offers the most features for the smallest hike in pricing: The Sugar Enterprise cost is up just $25 over the Professional tier, compared to the Ultimate tier’s $85 price hike over Enterprise.

Here’s a full at-a-glance table charting the prices you can expect to pay, as well as a few details about storage, support and core features each plan has to offer.

$19/user/month

$80/user/month

A reasonably priced platform offering solid customization options

A good budget option for covering multiple marketing channels

A weak offering with few native service channels available

Overall, SugarCRM’s plan offerings are less complex than most CRM providers, which often split their service into different job segments like Sales or Marketing. With SugarCRM, one single platform can handle sales, IT, marketing and more. You just need to pick out the level of features and support that your business needs.

Sugar Sell Costs

There’s certainly a lot of competition when it comes to CRM for sales, but Sugar Sell actually hangs with the best of them. With a competitively priced option at $80 per user per month, it’s comparable to larger operations like Salesforce, although it certainly offers less than its top competitor.

Sugar Sell offers only a singular plan, which houses everything the CRM has to offer for sales. It doesn’t offer much when it comes to lead capture or communication, but lead conversion is where it signs, offering everything from lead scoring and quote proposal management to your own customizable sales pipeline.

Compared to other options, Sugar Sell is similarly priced to mid-tier plans for top name brands and enterprise-level plans for lesser-known options. Salesforce Professional and HubSpot Professional are quite close in price, whereas Freshsales Enterprise is just a tad less expensive than this option.

Admittedly, Sugar Sell doesn’t quite compare to other options on the market that are a bit more affordable and offer more. Still, you can’t beat it when it comes to customizability, so if that’s what you’re looking for, you’ve found it!

Sugar Serve Costs

Much like Sugar Sell, the Sugar Serve option costs $80 per user per month, but instead provides the infrastructure to manage your customer service needs rather than sales.

For the price, you’ll get access to a number of features that can help you manage your customer service needs, including a knowledge base builder, email templates, email ticketing, and even some social ticketing via Twitter. Sugar Sell also offers some serious data analysis features, including resolution rates, response time tracking, custom reports, and more.

Unfortunately, our research found that Sugar Serve was one of the weaker offerings when it comes to CRM for customer service. It just simply does not offer the number of native communication channels that others do, which puts it at a substantial disadvantage. Still, it’s customizable like all the other plans, so if you need that, stick with Sugar Sell.

While the price may seem high, Sugar Serve prices are also comparable to mid-tier plans from robust platforms and enterprise-level plans from mid-tier brands. Salesforce and HubSpot’s professional plans are similarly priced, and Freshdesk’s Enterprise plan is almost exactly the same price.

Sugar Market Costs

Sugar Market is a bit different than Sugar Sell or Sugar Serve, and that should be obvious from the price. At $1,000 per month, you’d be well within your rights to think it’s too expensive. And if you’re a smaller business without need for marketing automation, you’re probably right.

Sugar Market can really transform your marketing efforts though. You’ll have features that can help you with email, content, social, and paid marketing. It is noticeably missing omnichannel features, which isn’t a dealbreaker, but certainly worth noting.

Our research found that Sugar Marketing is a great budget option that can save you a bit of money, compared to other marketing automation platforms. It falls short of the value of our top-rated pick, which is HubSpot, but still provides plenty of power providing you pick the right HubSpot pricing plan. Check out our guide to the best CRM for marketing for more information.

The high price is common for marketing automation platforms, and Sugar Market is comparable to Professional plans from Salesforce Pardot, HubSpot Marketing Hub, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing. You get a lot of bang for your buck, but if you don’t need all that automation, you might want to opt for a less expensive option.

SugarCRM Dashboard

Sugar Professional Costs

The Sugar Professional tier of SugarCRM’s services helps agents manage accounts, leads, contacts, tasks, products, quotes, tickets and opportunities. It also offers sales opportunity management and email campaigns and has a mobile app that includes offline access. Essentially, it’s a stripped-down version of the other plans that is aimed at small businesses.

Sugar Professional supports 34 languages, making it a good option for an internationally based team. Other useful perks include ticket routing, bug tracking, and web-to-lead capture forms.

The cost is $52 per user per month, with a ten-user minimum. Storage may be a barrier for high-growth companies, since it is capped at 15GB, and only online support is offered, with no phone or email support options.

In addition, downloadable resources including ebooks, whitepapers, and a Buyer’s Guide are available to all for free.

Sugar Enterprise Costs

Granular workflow management features are one of the biggest additions to the Sugar Enterprise plan, which includes a workflow visual designer, parallel workflows, multi-level approval process flows, and reusable business process rules. You’ll also benefit from customizable email templates and notifications, advanced reporting, and the ability for admins to configure role-based permissions.

The cost is $65 per user per month, with a ten-user minimum for a minimum annual charge of $7,800.

This tier offers two sandbox instances for safely testing application changes, up from the Professional tier’s zero instances. The storage space expands to 60GB under the Enterprise tier, and support is available on both phone and email 12 hours a day during the five-day business week as well as online.

Do you already use CRM software?

SugarCRM uses a strict per-user pricing scheme, charging businesses a set price for each user who gains access to their software. It’s a sustainable approach for any businesses interested in a CRM platform: The price starts low to match the limited means of a smaller team and grows with the company as it adds employees.

The per-user plans do come with one caveat worth noting, however. There’s a ten-user minimum across all three plan tiers. In other words, even if your team is just five or six people, your business will start out paying for ten.

In addition, plans are billed annually. This means that the smallest bill you can expect to see is $4,800, the cost for 12 months of the Sugar Professional plan for ten users.

However, since SugarCRM packages its services into one plan, you won’t be paying for a bundle of multiple services, so this pricing is still on the low end for many popular CRM services.

SugarCRM

  • Pros

    • Incredibly customizable for specific business needs
    • On-premise installations available for extra fee
    • No hidden fees with straightforward pricing options
  • Cons

    • No free plan available
    • A bit expensive compared to the rest of the industry
    • Less well-known brand with fewer integrations
  • Standard: $59/user/month
  • Advanced: $85/user/month
  • Premier: $135/user/month

No, SugarCRM does not have a free plan. If it’s a consolation, any worthwhile CRM will have a fairly disappointing free plan, since it’s bound to lack features that are worth paying for.

Instead, SugarCRM’s starting price of $52 per user per month for the Professional tier brings with it a fully-fledged service for managing all the basic sales, customer service, marketing, and software development needs of a growing business. Within the CRM industry, that’s actually a little under the average.

SugarCRM Alternatives for Customer Service

As we mentioned, Sugar Serve is a particularly weak option when it comes to CRM for customer service, so we’d recommend looking into some other options that are more aimed at your particular business needs.

Our top pick here is Zendesk, offering a robust set of features that allow you to scale with the platform, if you start to grow. If that’s not your cup of tea though, you can try out one of the many other options we’ve research here:

SugarCRM Alternatives for Marketing

As we mentioned, CRM for marketing is often much different than sales or service options, particularly when it comes to price. Marketing CRM is often much more expensive, because it does a lot more than the other types.

Our top pick for CRM for marketing is HubSpot, as it offers unparalleled value, given the massive features catalog for a reasonable price. Plus, it offers a free forever plan that is always attractive for businesses looking to test it out before they commit financially.

As far as CRM goes, you can do a lot worse than SugarCRM. It provides a lot of customizability and plenty of features, helping it compete with some of the top options on the market. Still, as far as value goes, SugarCRM falls a bit short of our top picks, making it a go-to budget option if you don’t need an extreme robust solution.

When you know how much SugarCRM will cost you, the final step is comparing it with other leading CRM providers. To start rapidly and easily collecting customized quotes from the top CRM services on the market today, just take a minute to fill out Tech.co’s quick CRM quotes form.

In 2018, SugarCRM was acquired by Accel-KKR, a private equity firm focused on middle-tier companies. This cements SugarCRM is a go-to option for mid-sized businesses, as opposed to larger brands and startups.

Unfortunately, SugarCRM does not provide a free plan for its users, nor does it provide a free trial on most of its plans. However, if you’re interested in Sugar Sell, you can get a 7-day free trial.

SugarCRM is a middle-of-the-pack CRM, offering plenty of features but falling short on some of the more advanced options provided by better-known companies. It provides a lot of customizability across all its plans, and it is a good budget option if you’re trying to save some money.
