About Our Research

At Tech.co, we don’t just guess about which CRM providers are the best for your business. We’ve spent hours painstakingly investigating the feature catalogs, free trials, and pricing pages of the top options to give you the most valuable information to make the right decisions. Here are the metrics we used to rate and rank CRM software:

  • Pricing – The cost of any software factors into the decision about whether or not to buy it.
  • Features – CRM providers offer a wide range of functionality, and these features can make a big difference for your business.
  • Ease of use – Beginners need to use a CRM platform too, which is why ease of use is so important to understand.
  • Customizability – You need to be able to make a software perform specific tasks for your business, making customizability a vital metric to consider.
  • Help & Support – No software is perfect and getting help from customer support can change how you interact with a CRM.

For more information about our process, check out our research guide to get a clearer picture of how we investigate these platforms.

Zoho CRM definitely offers more business features than Pipedrive, particularly at similar price points. Zoho CRM scored a 4.1 out of 5 in our research for features, whereas Pipedrive scored a dismal 1.9 out of 5. Even worse, that low score from Pipedrive was from a pricing plan that actually costs more than the similar plan from Zoho CRM, which makes the decision even more clear.

The big advantage here is that Zoho CRM offers features for sales, marketing, and customer service, whereas Pipedrive only offers sales features. Subsequently, if you’re doing anything more than just tracking deals, Zoho CRM is the obvious choice across the board.

Again, you can’t beat Zoho CRM when it comes to customizability, and Pipedrive just doesn’t compare. Zoho offers some of the most robust customizability in the industry, providing custom task types, custom objects, custom dashboards, and a customizable sales pipeline.

Conversely, Pipedrive only allows for custom dashboards and customizable sales pipeline, missing out on the custom task types and custom objects. It does offer unlimited custom fields, though, whereas Zoho CRM offers only 500 per object, and that’s only in one of its more expensive plans, Zoho Ultimate.

All in all, Zoho CRM scored an impressive 4.1 out of 5 for customizability, while Pipedrive only scored a 2.5 out of 5 for customizability, so the research is clear on this one.

This is one category in which Pipedrive actually outscored Zoho CRM, although not by much. Zoho CRM scored a 3.1 out of 5 in help and support, while Pipedrive scored a slightly better 3.2 out of 5. This is largely because Zoho CRM has different tiers of support based on which pricing plan you go for, while Pipedrive has the same service across all plans.

Subsequently, while Zoho CRM offers 24/7 coverage for expensive plans, the help and support is less helpful in the Professional plan, with agents being available only eight hours a day for five days a week. Pipedrive, on the other hand, offers live chat 24/7 for all of its pricing plans, even the Essential one, so we have to give the edge to Pipedrive.

Zoho CRM is arguably the best CRM on the market, and Pipedrive is respectable in its own right, but they certainly aren’t the only CRM options available. In fact, our research found that there are plenty of solid platforms out there that should be able to fit your particular needs. Take a look at the table below for a look at some alternatives and keep scrolling for some of our other top picks.

Freshsales – starting at $9 per user, per month

Another sales-focused CRM, Freshsales is essentially a better version of Pipedrive for a slightly lower price. It had the most features on our list for the price, scoring a 4.7 out of 5, making it one of the best value CRMs in our research. While Pipedrive only offers sales features, Freshsales Suite, the platform geared towards small businesses, offers marketing and sales features, so you can find customers while you’re trying to close.

Freshsales

  • Pros

    • Free plan available for up to three users
    • More digital selling options than most
    • Phone, email, and live chat support with 24/5 coverage
  • Cons

    • Lacks some team organization capabilities found in competitors
    • Doesn’t provide an IP restriction security feature
    • No integrations available on free plan
  • price tag Growth: $9/user/month
  • price tag Pro: $39/user/month
  • price tag Enterprise: $59/user/month

Zoho CRM doesn’t directly integrate with Pipedrive, but Zoho Desk, the customer service version of the platform, does offer integration with Pipedrive.

According to our research, Zoho CRM is a better CRM than Pipedrive, offering more features, better prices, and more robust customizability for businesses of all sizes.

If you’re in the market for a sales-focused CRM that has excellent deal tracking features, Pipedrive could be a good fit. Still, there are more affordable options out there that do more, so we’d suggest checking out the best CRM for small business before you make a decision.
