Hootsuite costs between $49 and $739 per month, depending on which pricing plan you go with. It’s admittedly at the more expensive end of the spectrum when it comes to social media management tools, but as we’ll explain, that money is more than worth it.

Before committing to any social media management tool, it’s helpful to review social media management pricing to see how Hootsuite compares to other options in terms of value for money.

Hootsuite is our top-rated social media management tool available on the market today, thanks to its robust feature catalogue, unlimited posting across all pricing plans, and a solid free plan. Tech.co has undertaken 80+ hours of extensive research comparing social media management tools, and Hootsuite came out on top, plain and simple.

In this guide, we’ll explain the difference between each of the Hootsuite pricing plans, as well as touch on the Hootsuite free plan, some Hootsuite alternatives, and naturally a few frequently asked questions. To get started, take a look at this pricing table, which gives a general overview of each of the Hootsuite pricing plans as far as price, users, accounts, and posts are concerned.

Hootsuite offers four different pricing plans: Professional, Team, Business, and Enterprise. Each plan is priced on a monthly basis, and billed annually. Hootsuite also offers a free plan, which allows for one user to manage three accounts and 30 posts in advance.

Hootsuite Professional

The Hootsuite Professional plan costs $49 per month, and allows for one user to manage ten social media accounts and schedule unlimited posts in advance.

This is the ideal plan for smaller businesses that need a bit of help on social media. It provides all the basics for improving your strategy, like publishing features and message monitoring, and allows for some fairly basic reporting with templates that make it easy to get started.

You do miss out on some of the more advanced publishing and engagement features, and the analytics are understandably a bit basic, but overall you get a lot for a reasonable price. It’s a bit more expensive than your average platform, but it’s certainly worth it, especially if you plan on scaling in the future.

Features

  • Auto scheduling
  • Publishing calendar
  • Bulk scheduling
  • Report templates
  • Social inbox
  • Monitor incoming messages

Hootsuite Team

The Hootsuite Team plan costs $129 per month, and allows for three users to manage 20 social media accounts and schedule unlimited posts in advance.

If you’re looking to make your social media strategy a team effort, this plan is perfect. In addition to all the great features in the Professional plan, it adds team assignments and employee permissions, which help to create a collaborative platform aimed at working together to improve your strategy. Plus, you get customizable reporting tools, so your analytics can actually reflect what your team needs to know.

You’re still limited to only three users – which can be a bit of a bummer considering the price tag – while ad functionality isn’t available until the next pricing plan, meaning it’s missing a few key features. But again, Hootsuite is our top-rated social media management tool for a reason, and this is the most popular plan – which means it clearly has merit when it comes to tackling your social media impact.

Features

  • Everything in the Professional plan
  • One custom branded URL
  • Customizable reports
  • Team assignments
  • Employee permissions
  • Platform certification training for all three users

Hootsuite Business

The Hootsuite business plan costs $739 per month, and allows five or more users to manage up to 35 social media accounts and schedule unlimited posts in advance.

As you can likely tell from the price tag, this is Hootsuite’s go-to plan for businesses looking to really take control of their social media presence. With the potential to add more users, a content library, ad campaign functionality, and access to premium apps, you’ll have all the tools you need at your finger tips to make an impact online.

To be frank, it’s quite expensive – particularly if you plan on adding more users, managing ads, or using social listening tools, which all cost extra on the plan. However, it’s very much worth it, as Hootsuite is known for its robust offerings. Simply put, if you can afford it, this is the way to go – though it’s really only necessary for larger companies.

Features

  • Everything in the Professional and Team plans
  • Add up to 10 additional users
  • Five custom branded URLs
  • Content library
  • Campaign management features
  • Ad campaign functionality
  • Message tagging
  • Security notifications
  • Access to premium apps

Hootsuite Enterprise

The Hootsuite Enterprise plan does not offer publicly available pricing, as the plan is a customized for each company to include sales, service, and marketing in a single hub. It allows five or more users to manage 50 or more social media accounts and schedule unlimited posts in advance.

Even larger companies likely don’t need to look into this plan unless social media is an integral part of their marketing strategy. As you can see from the Business plan, Hootsuite can get pretty expensive, which means a customized plan is really going to cost you money.

Still, if you need it, the Hootsuite Enterprise plan offers a wide range of automated features that can save your business time and money. Between team productivity reporting and live training for the whole team, you’ll be able to make an impact on day one. That is, of course, if the price is right.

Features

  • Everything in the Professional, Teams, and Business plans
  • Team productivity reporting
  • Single sign-on
  • Quarterly business review
  • Live training for entire team
  • Automated team assignments
  • Social listening add-on

Yes, although we must admit, it’s pretty bare bones as far as social media management tools are concerned: one user can access two accounts, and schedule five posts maximum. Plus, the free plan doesn’t offer any analytic or reporting tools at all, which is kind of the point of installing a software like Hootsuite.

Suffice it to say, there are much better free social media management options out there, although Hootsuite still offers the best social media management option provided you’re willing to pay. Now, if you want to try out the paid plans before making a decision, you’re in luck – Hootsuite offers a 30-day free trial for its Professional and Team plans, and offers free demos for its Business and Enterprise plans.

Buffer – $12 per month

Compared to the other options in this list, Buffer is a bit different. It offers more of an “a la carte” style to its two plans, with each offering different functionality: one is focused on publishing, while the other is tailored towards analytics. Honestly, this can save you a lot of money if you’re only looking to do one or the other, but it can get expensive if you’re looking for an all-in-one hub.

Still, Buffer does offer a great free plan, which is one of the easiest to use on the market. You will miss the lack of advanced publishing features, and the posting limits can get in the way, but there are definitely more than a few reasons to give Buffer’s free plan a shot before opting for the more expensive tools.

See our full guide on Hootsuite vs Buffer for more on how the two stack up.

Buffer

3.1
Best for flexible pricing
  • Pros

    • Good range of publishing and analytical features
    • Offer a Free plan
    • Pay-for-what-you-use pricing model
  • Cons

    • Lacks advanced publishing features
    • No engagement or listening features
    • Limited organizational/team features
    • Impose scheduling limits

Zoho Social – $10 per month

For the money, you can’t do much better than Zoho Social. With its least expensive plan at only $10 per month and its most expensive at only $37.50 per month, Zoho offers some serious functionality at a significantly lower price.

The company does set up its plans a bit differently – it offers a “brand” in its plans that consists of seven different accounts, so make sure that’s what you’re looking for. It’s also missing some support options, as well as more extensive engagement features – so you’re saving money for a reason.

Zoho Social

Best value for money
  • Pros

    – Affordable for wide functionality
    – Offers a free plan
    – Extensive organizational/team features

  • Cons

    – Not great for larger businesses
    – No phone or live chat customer support
    – No image editor or content library

Sendible – $25 per month

There are no two ways about it: Sendible has a lot of features, and they won’t cost you too much. In fact, Sendible offers some of the most affordable listening tools – a typically sparse and expensive feature – which automatically make it a go-to option for anyone that is focused on social media analytics.

It’s not without its downsides, of course. The support options are few and far between, which isn’t ideal if you’re new to the platform. Plus, with posting limits on paid plans and no ad functionality, you might not be able to execute your entire strategy for a low price.

Sendible

Best for affordable listening tools
  • Pros

    – Great social media listening
    – Extensive organizational/team features
    – Extensive publishing features

  • Cons

    – Has posting limit
    – User roles restricted
    – No ad functionality

Sprout Social – $89 per user per month

Sprout Social is the only social media management tool that solidly compares to Hootsuite. It offers a similarly large feature catalogue, great support options, and unlimited posting across all plans. The only downside is that it’s a bit expensive, and doesn’t offer a free plan – a bit of a barrier for smaller companies that just want to get started.

Still, you could do a lot worse than Sprout Social. It offers some unmatched customer support features that will help you automate a wide range of processes to keep your customers happy. It even offers a 30-day free trial so you can try it out before you buy, even without the free plan.
