Your business can build a GoDaddy website starting at $9.99 per month, with ecommerce support costing $20.99 per month. Our researchers put GoDaddy among the best website builders, since it’s easy to use, inexpensive, and fast to set up. GoDaddy web hosting starts at $5.99.

Prices vary widely depending on the features you need, and can increase significantly with add-ons and renewal hikes. Read on for all the crucial data our testers identified, as well as a comparison with GoDaddy’s top rivals.

Businesses hoping to set up a simple storefront and freelancers that need an online resume or portfolio can use GoDaddy’s cheapest website builder plan, GoDaddy Basic, for just $9.99 per month.

That’s the exact same starting price as Hostinger, and is well below many top names, including Squarespace ($16 per month) and Wix ($17 per month). Just one big website builder, Shopify, offers an even lower starting price at just $5 per month.

Is GoDaddy worth this price? Our full review of the website builder found a few flaws: customization is limited, you won’t get third-party integrations, and the AI tools aren’t as expansive as those from top rivals Wix and Squarespace.

However, GoDaddy stands out for its inexpensive ecommerce plan and for how quickly it can help a business establish a simple online presence.

GoDaddy offers three website builder plans: Basic, Premium, and Commerce.

Pay the annual bill for any of these plans, and you’ll get a free custom domain and free professional email for a year (after which you’ll be billed an extra ongoing cost).

Can I build a website with GoDaddy for free?

You can initially create a free website, but GoDaddy no longer offers a free forever plan: it will eventually start charging users who start with a free option.

Read our guide to the best free website builders for more, including our top pick, Wix.

GoDaddy sells three different types of web hosting services.

  • Shared: Best for simple, inexpensive websites that won’t get much traffic, these plans include:

    • Deluxe ($7.99 per month)
    • Ultimate ($12.99 per month)
  • VPS (Virtual Private Server): Best for fast-growing businesses that need a reliable online presence, these plans are named after the number of CPU cores each offers:
    • 1 vCPU ($14.99 per month/$8.99 per month for first 36 months)
    • 2 vCPU ($29.99 per month/$17.99 per month for first 36 months)
    • 4 vCPU (8GB RAM) ($59.99 per month/$34.99 per month for  first 36 months)

  • WordPress: This all-in-one service will create the front-end look for your website in addition to hosting it:
    • Basic ($6.99 per month)
    • Deluxe ($10.99 per month)
    • Ultimate ($14.99 per month)

We take our impartial research and analysis seriously, so you can have complete confidence that we’re giving you the clearest, most useful product recommendations.

After conducting an initial exploration to identify the most relevant, popular, and established tools in the market, we put them through their paces with hands-on testing to see their real strengths and weaknesses. In this case, we put 16 website builder products to the test across 398 areas of investigation.

Based on years of market and user needs research, we’ve established a website builder testing methodology that scores each product in six core categories of investigation and 33 subcategories. This covers everything, from customer feedback to design, ease of use, and more.

Our main testing categories for website builders are:

  • Website features: The capabilities and functionalities offered by a website builder, e.g. blog functionality, SEO capability, and marketing capacity.
  • Design functionality: The aesthetic appeal and visual layout of a website created using a website builder. It encompasses aspects such as page templates and customizable themes.
  • Customer satisfaction: External customer opinion. This is the feedback and ratings given by customers who have used a particular website builder — the market position and reputation a website builder holds.
  • User experience: How user-friendly and intuitive a website builder is for people with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Value for money: The balance between the cost of a website builder and the benefits it provides. It considers factors such as pricing plans, subscription models, and available features.
  • Help and support: The assistance and resources available to users when they encounter issues or need guidance while using a website builder.

When it comes to calculating a product’s final score, not all testing areas are weighted evenly, as we know some aspects matter more to our readers than others, which are simply “nice to have”. After hundreds of hours, our process is complete, and the results should ensure you can find the best solution for your needs.

At Tech.co, we have a number of full-time in-house researchers, who re-run this testing process regularly, to ensure our results remain reflective of the present day.

GoDaddy Airo can use simple prompts to generate a range of elements that you might need for your website, including a logo, images, or a privacy policy. It can also handle the creation of the website itself.

Your domain renewal cost is available within your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio account. Click the “Columns” icon above your domain list and then check the “Renewal Price” box to make the price for each domain appear in your portfolio view.

You’ll set the percentage that you need to mark up products sold through GoDaddy’s websites and GoDaddy auto-calculates the final price. Log into your Reseller Control Center account to adjust the percentage rules whenever you need to.
