Fleetio is one of the best fleet management software options available to help you track inspections, manage work orders, and generally streamline your business to improve productivity. The platform offers robust analytics and competitive pricing, with the starting price coming in at only $4 per vehicle per month (billed annually).

It’s not perfect. Some of the important features are only available in more expensive plans, and the five-vehicle minimum increases that starting price substantially. Plus, it doesn’t offer 24/7 support, so if you run into problems outside of business hours, you’re out of luck.

In this guide, you’ll learn about the features, pricing, mobile app, and ease of use available with Fleetio, all informed by our in-depth, hands-on research of the platform.

Fleetio

  • Pros

    • Competitive and transparent pricing
    • Robust reporting with lots of data
    • Large selection of third-party integrations
  • Cons

    • Inventory management and work orders only available in more expensive plans
    • Five-vehicle minimum may increase the price
    • No 24/7 customer support
  • Essential: $4/month
  • Professional: $7/month
  • Premium: $10/month

The best way to understand whether a business software is right for you is to learn the basics before getting too deep. Below, we’ve outlined some of the important facts you should know about Fleetio before getting started.

  • Fleetio is competitively priced at only $4 per month, per vehicle (when billed annually), but there is a five-vehicle minimum, so you’ll pay at least $20 per month for the service.
  • Fleetio does not offer built-in live tracking, but it can integrate with other services via the Fleetio App Directory.
  • Fleetio offers a lot of functionality but features like inventory management and work orders are only available in more expensive plans.
  • Fleetio provides a lot of data, enabling robust reporting to inform your business strategy.
  • Fleetio does not offer 24/7 support, but its Help Center can provide self-service tools if you need them.

Who is Fleetio for?

Given its low starting price, Fleetio is great for businesses on a budget. More specifically, the five-vehicle minimum means that Fleetio is great for medium-sized business that have more than just a couple of vehicles.

On top of that, Fleetio offers excellent analytics tools that are customizable to your liking, so businesses that require a lot of data to make decisions will feel right at home. All that customization can be a bit intimidating, and with the massive selection of data at your fingertips, software novices might be better suited to a simpler platform.

Now that you know some of the basics about Fleetio, let’s get a bit more granular with the kinds of features you can expect to take advantage of for your fleet management business. Here are some key features of Fleetio to consider.

Inspection history

Fleetio provides an in-depth inspection history for every vehicle, accessible directly on the platform from a list of your whole fleet. As a result, you’ll be able to keep up with fleet inspections, promoting preventative maintenance to keep your overall costs low and productivity high.

Inspection history gives a clear, color-coordinated look at everything from engine health to fuel levels and shows you on a map exactly where those inspections occurred. It’s a simple feature that can save you a lot of time in the long run, as it helps you know exactly where you’re at and when you need to another one.

The Fleetio’s systems focus on maintenance may help stand out for the 19% of logistics professionals who explained to Tech.co’s October 2025 survey that they’re pushing for their company to invest in tech to reduce both fuel and maintenance costs.

Reporting & analytics

Perhaps the biggest boon for Fleetio users are the analytics tools. Particularly given its low price, Fleetio offers impressively in-depth and customizable reporting functionality.

For starters, we found that the home dashboard provides a wealth of information right away, setting us up with data visualizations and other valuable information that helped us stay on top of our fleet. It was also very customizable, allowing us to mix and match widgets to create a custom reporting dashboard that fits our needs.

Fleetio also has a detailed Reports section, which allowed us to create custom reports for everything from vehicles and inspections to work order and fuel tracking. In fact, this section was so in-depth that it was honestly a bit intimidating, with dozens of potential reports available, even with nothing more than sample data from the company.

If you know what you’re looking for, or if you’re familiar with fleet management software, this kind of feature could represent a huge selling point, especially at such a low price.

Live chat support

If you’re having trouble with any of these features, or simply need help navigating the Fleetio platform, the provider offers live chat support directly on the platform to help you out. Even better, the live chat support is extremely responsive, with an expert responding to our request in less than two minutes after submitting the brief form.

It’s worth noting, however, that Fleetio does not offer 24/7 live chat support, so you will have to wait for business hours to solve your problem.

Fleetio support is available from 8am-8pm (EST) from Monday-Friday, so try to avoid those weekend issues if you can.

We had a chance to get a hands-on look at Fleetio, testing out the platform for ourselves to give you the best insights to make a decision for your business.

In our time with the software, we found it easy to use, with a clearly labeled and intuitive interface that allowed us to easily navigate to the many areas of the platform.

The home dashboard was filled with a wide range of customizable data visualizations, and the side bar menu made it easy to find what we need, from vehicle information and inspection tracking to service reminders or equipment data.

The one aspect of the platform that could be a bit daunting for the uninitiated is the sheer volume of available data at your fingertips. The home dashboard makes it easy to see the basics, but the Reports section offers arguably too much data for the average user to even comprehend, let alone utilize in a meaningful way. Obviously, this is a double-edged sword, as fleet managers that need a lot of data will be pleased, but it could add a bit of unwanted stress for those hoping to navigate the platform without too much training.

All in all, we found Fleetio to be an excellent tool for fleet management that’s reasonably easy to use for average users, but all the analytics could pose a bit of a learning curve for those unfamiliar with business software like this.

The Fleetio Go mobile app is available on Android and iOS on smartphones and tablets for all Fleetio paid plans, as well as with the free trial. Fleet management isn’t some “stuck in the office” job that can all be done from a computer. In many cases, the ability to manage work orders and perform inspections on the go with a smartphone is a vital feature that could tip the scales for your business, and Fleetio’s app makes that possible.

The Fleetio Go app has a wide range of features: We were able to create work orders, perform vehicle inspections, track inventory, and even locate maintenance network shops directly on the app.

The app’s Search function made it easy to track down specific features and vehicles in the fleet, so we didn’t have to do a lot of navigating to perform actions.

As you can see in the screenshots below, the app interface is a bit basic, but it gets the job done and is very easy to use, even for beginners.

Fleetio offers integrations across a wide range of services relevant to fleets. Fleetio’s website includes a searchable directory that serves as a trusted central location for users to download all of the brand’s official integrations.

In fact, Fleetio supports ten different integration categories, all of which are available online: Development Services, Fuel Cards, Fuel Management, GPS & Telematics, Key Management, Predictive Analytics, Safety & Compliance, Tire Management, Tolls & Citations, and Transportation Management Systems.

Some of the most popular examples include other fleet management platforms, including Geotab, Verizon, and Samsara, among others.

Other commonly used integrations include Caterpillar VisionLink, which provides telematics for construction equipment, and Car IQ, which supports and tracks a fleet’s fuel payments.

Given Fleetio’s limitations – like the lack of built-in live tracking – this wealth of integrations is a much-needed benefit. However, users will still have to pay for the third-party providers that they integrate with Fleetio, and those extra costs might add up quickly, depending on your needs.

Unlike most fleet management providers, Fleetio offers clear and transparent pricing right out of the gate, so you don’t have to call up a sales team to get the information you need to make a decision. Fleetio offers three different pricing plans:

  • Essential – $4 per month, per vehicle, billed annually, or $5 per month, per vehicle, billed monthly.
  • Professional – $7 per month, per vehicle, billed annually, no monthly option.
  • Premium – $10 per month, per vehicle, billed annually, no monthly option.

Remember, Fleetio has a five-vehicle minimum, so that will mean that your monthly cost will be at least $20 per month, $35 per month, or $50 per month, depending on which plan you go with.

There’s also a 14-day free trial that you can use before you buy to get an idea of how the software works before committing.

Is Fleetio a good value?

Considering the low starting cost, the competitive pricing options, and the overall functionality of the platform, Fleetio is definitely considered a good value. It undercuts the heavy hitters in the industry like Samsara and Verizon Connect, while still providing plenty of features to manage your fleet.

The lack of built-in live tracking is a big value hit, considering most other fleet management software offers it, but you can use all the savings to pay for a third-party integration that could still keep prices lower than many competitors that include it.

All that to say, Fleetio is widely considered a budget choice for fleet businesses trying to keep costs low, but you won’t miss out on value as a result.

Now that you know about all that Fleetio has to offer, it’s time to ask yourself: is there a better option out there? Fleetio is a respectable solution for fleet management, but it isn’t the best fit for every business. Whether you require built-in telematics tracking or need a system that can track fewer than five vehicles, finding a Fleetio alternative shouldn’t be that hard.

Fleetio vs Verizon Connect

If you’re looking for a more robust platform that has extensive and impress live tracking features, Verizon Connect might be what you’re looking for. Considered by many to be the gold standard in the industry, Verizon Connect comes with any and all fleet management features you can imagine, along with 24/7 support, quick data refresh, and a vast selection of third-party integrations.

The biggest difference, though, is pricing. Not the actual cost of the two, because Verizon Connect does not offer publicly available pricing, but the contract length. While Fleetio has a monthly option, Verizon Connect requires a three-year contract. Suffice to say, you better be in it for the long haul if you go with Verizon Connect.

Fleetio vs GPS Insight

Now, if you aren’t looking to spend a lot more but you do want to get access to some of the features you’re missing out on with Fleetio, you could be better suited to trying out GPS Insight.

For one, pricing starts at $14.95 per vehicle, per month, which is obviously a bit more than Fleetio, but not by too much. Plus, it gives you access to live tracking, as well as a notably easy-to-use interface that can help you manage your fleet.

We take our impartial research and analysis seriously, so you can have complete confidence that we’re giving you the clearest, most useful recommendations.

After conducting an initial exploration to identify the most relevant, popular, and established tools in the market, we put them through their paces with a research framework designed in-house to see their real strengths and weaknesses. In this case, we analyzed 20 fleet management products across 51 different areas of investigation.

Based on years of market and user needs research, we’ve established a fleet management testing methodology that scores each product in six core assessment areas and six additional subcategories, covering everything, from the driver management features to value for money, customer support, and much more.

Our main testing categories for fleet management systems are:

  • Price: The cost associated with using the fleet management software, including upfront costs, subscription fees, hardware costs (if applicable), and any additional charges for advanced features or add-ons.
  • Tracking: The core functionality of the fleet management software, which involves monitoring and tracking the location and movements of vehicles in real-time, including features such as GPS tracking, route optimization, and geofencing.
  • Driver management: The features and tools provided by the fleet management software to manage and monitor driver activities. This can include driver behavior monitoring, driver performance reports, and driver identification.
  • Vehicle management: The functionalities that allow for the efficient management and maintenance of vehicles, such as vehicle health monitoring and maintenance scheduling.
  • Product features: The additional functionalities and capabilities offered by the fleet management software, beyond basic tracking and management, such as real-time alerts and notifications, or driver routing and dispatching.
  • Support: The resources, assistance, and guidance provided by the fleet management software company to users, including phone support, email or chat support, and online forums.

When it comes to calculating a product’s final score, not all testing and research categories are weighted evenly, as we know some aspects matter more to our readers than others, which are merely “nice to have”. After hundreds of hours, our process is complete, and the results should ensure you can find the best solution for your needs.

At Tech.co, we have a number of full-time in-house researchers, who re-run testing and research processes regularly to ensure our results remain reflective of the present day.
