At Samsung’s 10th anniversary Unpacked event, they announced a new lineup of wearables to add to their catalog: a fitness tracker, a fitness-focused smart watch, and a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Meet the Galaxy Watch Active, the Galaxy Fit, and the Galaxy Buds.

Each of the new wearables will be available on March 8th, save the Galaxy Fit, which is still waiting on a confirmed release date. The Galaxy Buds will start at $129.99 and will come in the box of each Samsung Galaxy S10 pre-order. The Galaxy Watch Active will start at $199.99, and the Galaxy Fit is still waiting on a confirmed price.

Take a look at some of the basics of all the new wearables announced at Samsung’s event and start opening those piggy banks; this isn’t going to be cheap.

Samsung Powershare

After announcing the much-anticipated Galaxy Fold and the notably impressive Galaxy S10, the new wearables didn’t have a chance at making much of a splash. But as part of Samsung’s ultra-connected ecosystem, playfully referred to as their “Galaxy” during the event, these new wearables will seriously enhance the mobile experience of anyone with enough money to purchase the entire set, particularly when it comes to charging.

Equipped with PowerShare technology, each new wearable will be able to charge on the back of the Galaxy S10. Just simply turn on the unique feature, flip your new phone over, and place the charging case for the Galaxy Buds or the back of the Galaxy Watch Active, and the devices will charge immediately.

Now, let’s take a look at each wearable individually to get a better idea of what we’re working with as far as this whole connected “Galaxy” thing is concerned.

Samsung’s answer to Apple’s AirPods, the Galaxy Buds are lightweight, comfortable Bluetooth headphones in a handy little case. Equipped with adaptive dual microphones, the Galaxy Buds can listen to your voice no matter where you are or where you’re going. Plus, thanks to Samsung’s virtual assistant Bixby, you’ll be able to use voice commands to adjust settings, activate different sound modes, and use your Galaxy S10.

There’s a lot to unpack in this tiny package, so let’s take a look at what the Galaxy Buds offer as far as features and specs go:

  • 30% lighter than previous iterations
  • 5 hour battery life for calls
  • 6 hour battery life for streaming
  • Sound by AKG
  • Starting at $129

At only $129, the Galaxy Buds certainly provide a competitively priced Bluetooth headphone option.

The Galaxy Watch has made a pretty serious splash on the market as far as wearables are concerned, but the announcement of the Galaxy Watch Active just adds fuel to the fire. This fitness-focused iteration is made with a lightweight aluminum and a soft, durable strap for a comfortable feel.

Check out some of the other important features of the Galaxy Watch Active and get your butt in gear to get that heart rate up!

  • Water resistant (5ATM)
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • 6000 customizable watch faces
  • Automatically recognize six exercises
  • Starting at $199

Priced a bit cheaper than the Galaxy Watch, the Active makes for a solid option for the more fitness-minded.

If you’re not really interested in the smart watch life when it comes to fitness trackers, the Samsung Galaxy Fit could be the alternative you need. You’ll still enjoy a beautiful display, but with the bare minimum as far as fitness tracking goes. You’ll have the heart rate monitor, the sleep tracker, and even a stress tracker, combined with the sleek, stylish design you’d expect.

Other features of the Galaxy Fit include:

  • Lightweight (23 grams)
  • AMOLED display
  • Water resistant
  • One week long battery life

The price and availability date have not been announced for the Samsung Galaxy Fit, so keep an eye out for those to be announced.

The Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Buds will be both available on Friday, March 8th. You’ll be able to begin pre-ordering each wearable on February 21st.

The Galaxy Fit is still waiting on a release date, but you can be sure it will launch sometime in the second quarter of 2019.

If you’re a Samsung buff looking to improve your mobile repertoire, absolutely. With the PowerShare technology alone, these devices form a pretty innovative ecosystem that solves the biggest problem in tech: charging. Sure, the whole lineup will run you a pretty penny, but if you’re going to spend almost $2000 on a foldable phone, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Yes, it probably wouldn’t hurt to wait for a few more hands-on reviews to land online before you pre-order all three of these wearables, but if you want to be on the cutting edge of technology, Samsung has got you covered.
