We’re still a couple weeks away from Halloween, but for those who shudder at the word “procrastination” (not me), I’m sure their Halloween costumes have already been carefully researched, materials and props purchased, and are probably 90% completed. And just like in years past, there are noticeable trends in Halloween costumes this year (how many Flo from the Progressive commercials did we see in 2011? Probably too many than we care to remember).

According to the most Googled Halloween costumes of 2015, there seems to be three overwhelming trends this year: Star Wars (because duh), superheroes (because also duh), and a return to the classics like vampires and pirates (can we blame hipsters?).

Without further ado, I present to you the 20 most Googled Halloween Costumes of 2015 (supplemented by my self-indulgent commentary):

1. Star Wars

Nope…nothing creepy about this costume. Yes, girls can be creepy too. (Image Source: Instagram user fannytee)

2. Pirates

Ooh…sexy pirate. How original. <insert eyeroll>(Image Source: Instagram user 2525vintage)

3. Superhero

How have I never noticed that Captain America wore booty shorts? (Image Source: Instagram user Bitsysbikins)

4. Harley Quinn

I had to google who Harley Quinn was. She's #4 on this list and I'd never heard of this character. I suppose there are certain areas of pop culture that I could brush up on. (Image Source: Instagram user sp00ku_gemini)

5. Batman

I couldn't help myself when I saw this one… Oh, and I challenge anyone to find me a year that Batman isn't on the list. Years before Google existed don't count. (Image source: Instagram user iss_chuckie)

6. Cat

I mean, cats are huge these days. Also, I tried hard to find a picture of a dude dressed as a cat…this was the best I could find. (Image source: Instagram user SewSeattleBaby)

7. Minions

Really? Are we not over Minions yet? (Image source: Instagram user justinsturdivant)

8. Minnie Mouse

This has got to be some kind of ironic hipster throwback thing, right? Minnie Mouse costumes certainly do not help feminism in any way. (Image source: Instagram user lynnsrags)

9. Witch

Ah…the classic witch costume. Also, see above comment re feminism. (Image source: Instagram user backsquatbeauty)

10. Wonder Woman

Another classic superhero…(Image source: Instagram user Letty.Villaion)

11. The Joker

Are we noticing a theme here yet? (Image source: Instagram user johnny_heartbreaker)

12. Ninja Turtles

As a child of the 90's, I have nothing but respect for this choice. (Image source: Instagram user iamtiffanyking)

13. Princess

14. Mermaid

I think another trend we're noticing here is that more women are Googling Halloween costumes than men. (Image source: Instagram user Aloha_Niki_808)

15. Dinosaurs

Finally, a costume with some substance. However, for all the amount of googling supposedly going on, there is a noticeable lack of dinosaur costume photos on Instagram. (Image source: Instagram user andimatticephotography)

16. Maleficent

She's kind of a badass. I'll just leave it at that. (Image source: Instagram user oliviaeverdeen)

17. Catwoman

Also kind of a badass. Not to be confused with the above mentioned "cat". (Image source: Instagram user photoflyy)

18. Stormtrooper

I guess Stormtrooper was searched enough that it gets its own spot on the list. (Image source: Instagram user chiino305)

19. Vampire

Once again I ask, where are all the dude vampires? (Image source: Instagram user mermaid.beemo)

20. Dolls

Because pretty much the only thing creepier than dolls are clowns. We should all be VERY relieved that clowns did not make the list (Image source: Instagram user ilovesexycom)
