Rippling is the best overall employee management platform because of its vast functionality, comprising payroll, benefits, onboarding, offboarding, recruiting, and more.

Rippling HR

  • Pros

    • All-in-one functionality across all HR categories, like payroll and IT
    • Provides international payment features for global businesses
    • No-code automation tool to streamline operations
  • Cons:

    • No transparent pricing for variety of services
    • No 24/7 live support to solve problems for your team
    • Vast functionality can be intimidating for beginners
  • price tag Custom pricing
  • price tag No free trial

Rippling simplifies global operations by letting you pay international employees in local currencies with built-in compliance.

Other standout features include a self-service app that enables employees to clock in and out. Managers can then review and approve hours, which will then automatically sync with payroll details.

I’ve tested Rippling, and despite its massive feature catalog, I found the platform to be highly easy to use.

For example, you can easily build powerful AI workflows via natural language prompting, by configuring triggers, or choosing from a library of prebuilt workflows.

How much does Rippling cost?

Rippling pricing operates on a custom, modular basis, so you will need to contact the company directly for your quote.

Rippling does not offer a free plan nor a free trial, but you can request a demo.

Connecteam is the best employee management platform for on-the-go teams. Its comprehensive app for employees and managers can schedule shifts, track hours, assign tasks, and more.

Connecteam

  • Pros

    • Easy to use mobile app for on-the-go management
    • Real-time employee tracking with Breadcrumbs feature
    • Free for small businesses with less than 10 employees
  • Cons

    • No offline functionality available
    • HIPAA-registered accounts cost extra on all plans
    • More than 30 users incurs additional fee
  • price tag Small Business: Free
  • price tag Basic: $29/month
  • price tag Advanced: $49/month
  • price tag Expert: $99/month
  • price tag Enterprise: Custom pricing

Track employees via GPS with the Breadcrumbs feature, giving you oversight of how far along they are in a particular job.

As well as training and onboarding new hires, the Connecteam app can facilitate team communication through internal messaging.

However, the app does lack offline functionality, which can be problematic if your business operates in rural areas.

Connecteam charges extra once you exceed 30 users, which makes it a better choice for small businesses that want to keep costs low.

Notably, Connecteam is the only platform on this list to offer a free option, with the Small Business plan available at no cost for up to 10 users.

The platform is simple to navigate because it lacks customizability, which should appeal to businesses that want to avoid lengthy setup times.

BambooHR also lacks 24/7 support, with representatives only available from 6AM–6PM MT, Monday to Friday.

We understand how important choosing the right software for your team is, and that’s why we go the extra mile when researching and reviewing the top providers.

First, we conduct an initial exploration to find the most relevant and useful platforms on the market. Then, we analyze their potential using a vigorous methodology that focuses on the concerns businesses care about the most, including the quality and quantity features, entry price, average plan cost, presence of a free plan and user experience.

These findings then help determine each software’s overall potential, which businesses they are best suited for and how they size up against the wider competition.

So much more goes into our research process, though. If you’d like to learn more about how we test and review products at Tech.co, you can learn more about our research here.

When choosing the right employee management software, consider which functionality you require, how compliant the platform is, and your business size, location, and budget.

If you have fewer than 5 employees, and you only need to track shifts, Excel or Google Sheets is sufficient. You should opt for employee management software if your needs are more sophisticated than that.

Switching employee management platforms is quite difficult as it requires migrating across sensitive information, such as employee records and pay history.
